BookFlix Friday (4) – Under the Never Sky

Standard

BookFlix Friday is a meme started by David Etkin of {Eat the Book} where we post book trailers that we plan to share with our students to get them reading.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland – known as The Death Shop – are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild – a savage – and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile – everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky. (summary from Goodreads)

I saw Veronica Rossi at my local indie, Blue Willow Books in February-ish of 2012. I bought her book, got a photo…and then just haven’t read it. I’ve booktalked it, recommended it, and checked it out to students and colleagues who have loved it. I just haven’t read it yet. I think (honestly) that I’m intimidated by the sci-fi factor…which is probably the same reason I haven’t read Across the Universe.

However! I said all that to say this: I want to read Under the Never Sky, and my plan is to read it before the end of January. My friend who teaches biology is reading it over the break, so I might get her to book talk it to our freshmen, then I can follow up with this awesome, action-packed trailer!

I love how there is so much action in the trailer. I think it might draw the attention of some of the guys just as much as the girls.

Are there any books that you’ve had forever and haven’t read for whatever reason? I hope I’m not alone in this!
